If you drove a different Audi model every week it would take you 10 months to go through the entire range as they now produce 44 models with their variations.

And the company is on target to hit the 200,000 sales mark in the UK by the end of the decade – not bad for a company which sold just under 15,000 back in 1991. Just shows what a bit of German ingenuity and the royal stamp of approval can do for your market.

So what’s Brexit going to do for Audi sales along with Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen, Seat and Skoda? Who knows? But the German chancellor certainly gave our new Prime Minister a warm welcome when she arrived in Berlin a few weeks back.

But everyone knows that the British market is vital to Germany in the manufacture of motor cars because British motorists love German cars.

Audi’s senior executives are quite relaxed about the situation and we are unlikely to see a big increase in the price of their cars in the UK.

The latest three cars to join the Audi stable are the SQ7, the Q7 e-tron and the A4 allroad. Each of them are quattro models and they are quite magnificent.

Audi pioneered their four wheel drive Quattros more than 20 years ago and anyone whose had one will tell you how good they are. In fact for every model Audi has there is a Quattro variation.

Of the big three to join the stable Audi seems to be most proud of the new SQ7 TDI which is priced from £71,000.

Not only as the first ever ‘S’ version of the Q7 luxury SUV, but also as the first series production car to incorporate new electric powered compressor technology that consigns turbo lag to history.

This was when you had a super fast car but when you put your foot down nothing happened straight away – hence turbo lag.

But with Audi this is now a thing of the past. You get that massive power kick straight away.

There are now two sequentially activated turbochargers working in harness with a powerful new 48-volt electrical subsystem. It will be the springboard for numerous revolutionary new technologies in the Audi models of the future.

This SQ7 has a four litre engine and with all those new gizmos you get a 0-62mph sprint time of just 4.9 seconds and a top speed limited to 155mph.

Surprisingly, but not for Audi, you can get almost 40 miles to the gallon and CO2 emissions of 190 g/km.

Visual cues to the ranking of the SQ7 TDI include the unique radiator grille design, an aluminium finish for the side air inlets, mirror housings and door inlays, LED headlights with a striking double-arrow light signature and an exhaust system branching into four rectangular tailpipes.

Under the skin, seven comfortable seats across three rows are upholstered in high quality leather, and the 235 litres of luggage space can be expanded to up to 1,890 litres helped by the standard electrically folding third seat row.

The fully digital Audi Virtual Cockpit is one of the many standard features, as is the Audi smartphone interface and MMI Navigation plus with the fingertip-sensitive MMI Touch pad control. Also new to the Q7 range is an embedded SIM card which immediately brings the benefits of Internet-based Audi Connect services to the car at no additional cost and without the need to insert a separate data-only SIM as was previously necessary. Google Earth mapping, Google Street View, news, weather, online traffic, flight and train information as well as local fuel prices and entertainment options are among the features available via the 7-inch MMI monitor and the 12.3-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit display.

As well as the SQ7 there is the Q7 e-tron with a three litre TDI engine which has all the electric power as well.

On test I drove this around Swindon for more than an hour, did 20 miles and stayed completely on electric power with more than 10 miles still in the battery before there would be the need to switch to normal power.

This comes in at £65,000 and is another brilliant car.

But my favourite of the new three is the A4 allroad Quattro which comes in at £40,000 with a three litre V6 engine.

I had recently a new A4 with a two litre petrol engine but this allroad special is something different.

You can get more than 50 miles to the gallon, a top speed of 155mph and 0-62mph in under six seconds. Plus the fact you could drive it all day, such is the comfort.

Audi just continue onwards and upwards.
