THERE will be zumba and dancing in the town centre tomorrow to support an end to violence against women and girls.

The event, held in the High Street from 10.30am to 11.30am, will raise awareness of the international movement One Billion Rising for Justice.

It is being organised by Swindon based not-for-profit social enterprise, HOMETRUTHS, which supports survivors of domestic violence and abuse in Swindon. Kim Swinden, co-director of HOMETRUTHS, said: “One Billion Rising is an international event to support the end of violence against women and girls.”

One Billion Rising For Justice is a call to survivors to break the silence and release their stories through art, dance, marches, ritual, song, spoken word, testimonies and whatever way feels right.

Last year, one billion people in 207 countries rose and danced to demand an end to any violence against women and girls across the world.

HOMETRUTHS receives no local council or national government funding and the group has to fundraise for all the activities and services they provide in Swindon and Wiltshire.

The group will meet outside the Wyvern, near the bridge, at 10.30am.
