TO mark the 100th anniversary since the start of the First World War, Greene King is inviting service men, women and veterans to enjoy a meal, absolutely free.
From August 3 to 9, serving and retired armed forces personnel will be eligible for a free meal in any one of nearly 430 Greene King Local Pubs, by showing their forces ID or veteran’s badge.
The offer includes The Merlin, The Messenger and The Windmill.
A spokesman for Greene King, said: “This is a very special occasion and while we think of those who risked and lost their lives 100 years ago, we wanted to treat the men and women who are protecting us today or those who have served their duty and have since retired.”
The meal is just one way that the pub company is commemorating the 100th anniversary. Between 10pm and 11pm on Monday, August 4, Greene King local pubs will be taking part in the Royal Legion’s moment of reflection, Lights Out.
The pubs will be turning their lights off and lighting a special centenary candle. During the hour, customers and team members can join together to remember the people who were involved in the war.
