PENHILL: On August 4 there will be a short ceremony from 6.30pm outside St Peter’s Church in Penhill Drive to mark the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War.
The Mayor of Swindon will be in attendance and children from Chippenham Close Community Centre will be narrating a poem, prayers and readings. The service will conclude with the Act of Remembrance.
Following the service the church will be open for prayer and reflection. Tea and coffee will be served in the hall. The event is being organised by St Peter’s Church and the Penhill branch of the Riyal British Legion.
