THE Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust has received an injection of £2,000 to support the work it does for the local community.
The Bobby Van Trust, who have secured over 16,000 homes since they started in 1998, aim to reduce incidence of burglary, victimisation and fear of crime as well as increase fire protection awareness.
Bobby van operator Mick Leighfield is also a retired police officer. The money has been donated to the Trust by Selwood Housing.
The Bobby Vans have secured a number of Selwood Housing homes in the past 12 months for a range of tenants, including those over 60, people with mental or physical disabilities and victims of domestic violence.
The Bobby Van project consists of three vans which are effectively mobile workshops.
The operators are skilled carpenters/lock fitters, qualified crime reduction officers and have also been trained by Wiltshire Fire and Rescue to carry out fire risk assessments.
