FAIRFORD boss Paul Braithwaite is hoping his side’s luck turns this Saturday against Easington Sports in their Hellenic League Division One West fixture.

Until last week’s defeat against Malmesbury Victoria, Fairford had not lost in the league since December but their promotion tilt has been halted by a spate of draws, crucially the three in a row in March.

Braithwaite thinks his side have had more than their fair share of bad luck with refereeing decisions.

That includes the recent cup loss to North Leigh where a handball on the line went only partially punished with the offender staying on the pitch and later scoring the equaliser.

The Fairford boss accepts that you make your own luck but does think that clear cut decisions out of his control have not been going his way.

“A few things gone against us, now we need luck to turn our way,” Braitwaite said.

“I can’t keep having refs coming over and apologising at the end of the game, hopefully we’ll have a little but of luck, just the simple decisions where the laws of the game need to be adhered to.

“I’ve said that over the season these things even up over the season, but they haven’t.

“We want to enjoy the remaining two games, I think the lads have maybe been trying to hard for promotion recently and now they can relax a bit and aim for fourth.”
