SWINDON Supermarine J under 11s cruised into the third round of the League Cup with a 5-1 success over Division Three outfit South Cerney.

Luke Legg gave Supermarine the lead after the South Marston side had been piling on the pressure on their visitors.

But South Cerney came close to levelling and it needed a good save from Josh Pickett to prevent parity being restored.

After Mickey McCann and Harley-Shaun Platt spurned opportunities to stretch Marine’s lead, Joah Hall headed home the hosts’ second of the match from a corner.

South Cerney pulled a goal back at the start of the second half following a mix-up in the Marine defence.

However, Marine quickly regained their two-goal advantage after Zachary Evans played in Rhys Ward to slam the ball home from the edge of the area.

Legg grabbed his second of the match to make it 4-1 following a goalmouth scramble.

Supermarine continued to lay siege to South Cerney’s goal, and after Mickey McCann, Hall and Platt went close to making it five, South Cerney forced Pickett into action.

The game was put to bed in the dying stages when Evans pounced on his parried shot to make it five.
