Swindon Spitfires under 16s racked up a 9-1 win over Bath City in the Wiltshire Girls League.

Fielding two new signings, Megan Ricketts and Shannon Gilbert, Spitfires opened the scoring when a Charley Reynolds corner was parried by the keeper and Ricketts stabbed home the loose ball.

Spitfires grabbed three more goals in the final 10 minutes of the half.

Ricketts grabbed her second following some great interplay between Charley Reynolds and Chiarna Deller.

Charley Reynolds made it 3-0 when she chipped the keeper from 30 yards before Ricketts completed her hat-trick by slotting home a Serenn Sanghera pass.

Kat Reynolds came close early in the second half with a long-range strike, before Charley Reynolds played in Deller to make it 5-0.

The visitors pulled a goal back before Amy Connaghan netted three goals in 10 minutes.

Spitfires completed the scoring, when Charley Reynolds’ superb pass found Chloe Mason in space, who rather than shoot, opted to set up Abby Fuller to thump home the ball.

Elsewhere, Spitfires’ U12s racked up a 12-1 win over Westbury Youth.

Kayleigh Stanley (5), Kimberley Jackson (3), Shannon L (2), Shannon Whitely, and Emma Masi were all on target.

Spitfires’ U14s were 1-0 winners at Frome Youth, with the only goal of the game coming on 15 minutes when Tamzin Davis drilled home a low shot.

In the Berkshire Girls League, the Spitfires U15s travelled to Shinfield Rangers a player short but secured a creditable 1-1 draw.

Spitfires broke the deadlock early in the second half when Nat Goodright fired home from inside the Shinfield box.

But minutes later, the home side were able equalise after latching on to a loose ball from a half-cleared corner.

In the Oxford Girls’ League, Spitfires’ U13s went down 4-1 at Kidlington Hawks, despite having the majority of the early play.

Despite Genevieve Bayliss, Emily Purvis and player-of-the-match Chloe Neate all going close for the Spitfires, Kidlington found their way back into the match and edged themselves into the lead.

The second half saw Kidlington come out strongly and the home side quickly stretched their advantage to 2-0.

Spits halved the deficit when Morgan Ly Culley scored with a free-kick from the edge of the area but Kidlington grabbed two late goals to seal the win.

Elsewhere, Lauryn Abery netted four goals for Swindon Town U16s in their 5-1 win over Bardwell to keep them top of the table with a second successive win.

  • Highworth U16s carried on from their spirited performance last week, securing a well-deserved first win of the season against Stonesfield Strikers in the Oxford League.

Highworth dominated the first half with some great passages of play, which saw them peg the Strikers back in their half for long periods of time.

However, a gallant Stonesfield defence kept the Reds at bay until the 15th minute, when Charlotte Weisinger finished off a great flowing move.

This was closely followed by a second from Weisinger as she pounced on a parried shot to net.

Town continued to press and nearly went 3-0 up when an in-swinging corner from Baeley Foster struck the bar.

The second half was more of a midfield battle, with limited chances for either side as Highworth took the three points.

A second consecutive home game for the newly-formed Highworth U12s saw them host Derry Hill in the Wiltshire League.

Despite losing 5-0, the Highworth team were competitive throughout and were unlucky not to find the target.
