REDHOUSE saw a first win of the season escape from their grasp as they let a three-goal lead slip against Ramsbury last weekend.

Chris Ullah’s side had lost their opening two Swindon & District League Division One fixtures, suffering defeats at the hands of KS Miltax and Bassett Bulldogs, and looked to be on their way to finally getting off the mark as they led 4-1 at Penhill Recreation Ground, before drawing 4-4.

Tom Goodey’s brace and goals from manager Ullah and Paul Stevens had put Redhouse in control, with Jono Andrews already on target for Ramsbury, but the visitors roared back to claim a share of the spoils thanks to two strikes from Georgian Radulescu and a Matthew Darvell effort.

Despite the frustration of seeing his team let a comfortable lead slip, Ullah admitted that the home side took their foot off the gas.

“We were 4-1 up but when they got a goal back to make it 4-2, that put them up, and then when they got another one, that perked them up even more,” said the Redhouse manager.

“They were on the up and we went down in ourselves. We let it slip to a degree.

“I had five chances and should have put four of them away.

“At least we got a point from it.

“Last season, we conceded a lot of goals in the first two games and then went on to win a lot of games but that’s going to be hard to achieve again.”

Elsewhere in Division One, early pacesetters Miltax made it four wins from four as they thumped Swindon Spitfires 8-1.

Mateusz Kapuska and Maciej Chmielik both hit two goals apiece whilst Kamil Fiedorowicz, Damian Smolinski, Jakub Bedrich and Mateusz Przybylski were all also on target, Barry Winslow grabbed the Spitfires’ consolation goal.

Jason Hudson scored twice, with Dave Lazenby and Mark Adams also got on the scoresheet, as Bassett Bulldogs beat winless Core Construction 4-0 whilst the Clifton beat Chiseldon 2-0.

In the Premier Division, Avtar Construction continued their 100 per cent record by thrashing Old Town United 6-1.

Aaron Welland and Shane Hibbert both bagged braces for Avtar, with Kelvin Spencer and Roger Mundy also notching, whilst Jack Duffy netted Old Town’s solo reply.

Sportz Central are up to second in the table after coming out on the right end of a nine-goal thriller at DJC Marlborough.

DJC scored twice to cancel out Alisto Pires’ opener before Clinton Novaes levelled things up from the penalty spot.

The home side struck twice more but Novaes matched that feat to round off his hat-trick before Pires’ volley sealed a 5-4 triumph for Sportz.

Swiss Chalet Rangers and Lower Stratton couldn’t be separated as they played out a thrilling 4-4 draw, with Paul Johnson hitting a brace alongside strikes from Mark Hughes and Gareth Walton for the hosts.

But a hat-trick from Chris Dallish and a William Hootton goal ensured that the two sides ended on level terms, with Hootton denied the match-winner as his late penalty was saved by the Rangers’ ‘keeper.

Shield & Dagger picked up three points in their first outing of the season as they beat Spectrum 2-0.
