GARETH Davies says his Fairford Town side have nothing to lose as they take a crack at unbeaten league leaders Longlevens this weekend.

The Gloucester-based outfit top the Hellenic League Division One West after winning seven and drawing just one of their eight league matches so far this season.

Meanwhile, Fairford go into their trip to Saw Mills End having not tasted victory in any of their last seven outings but Davies is urging his players to throw the form book to one side as they attempt to pull off an upset on Saturday.

“They’re obviously not bad, from what I can see looking at the table,” said Davies.

“But they’re there to be shot at. The pressure will all be on them and they have to lose a game sometime.

“We’re going to play against a good side, at what’s going to be, by all accounts, a good ground, and we can’t worry about what’s going to happen.

“I know that we haven’t clicked yet and we’ve been going through a bit of a tough time but we just need to stick together.

“We’ve reminded the players that they are all good footballers and we will turn the corner eventually.”

Utility man Aaron Dale could be in line for his first involvement of the season against Longlevens but Callum Marshall is unavailable and Alex Rudd is still sidelined with a knee injury.

In the Premier Division, Shrivenham are also in league action as they look to bring their ten-match unbeaten run to an end.

Sam Collier’s side host Newbury, who are level on points with Shivvy but sit a place higher in 17th due to their superior goal difference.
