DAVE Webb says his Swindon Supermarine side return to the Webb’s Wood Stadium this weekend with their confidence revitalised.

Marine plumbed the depths last Saturday as they slipped to a dismal 5-0 defeat at Evesham United, ending their afternoon with nine men, but on Tuesday, Webb’s men banished the spectre of their walloping in Worcestershire by thrashing Bishops Cleeve 4-0.

Even a delayed kick-off due to a floodlight failure in Gloucestershire couldn’t knock the wind out of Marine’s sails and manager Webb is hoping that his men can notch up another positive result when they host Tiverton Town.

“Everybody knows what happened at Evesham and everybody knows how disappointing it was,” said the Webb’s Wood chief.

“It would have been easy to go to Bishops Cleeve and feel sorry for ourselves. It’s a tough place to go because they’ve taken points off some good sides this season and pushed some good sides close.

“We didn’t even kick-off until 8.20pm after the floodlight problems but I got exactly the response I was looking for, with four goals and a clean sheet.

“I know how good this group of players is and it’s just been frustrating that we haven’t been getting the right results.

“If we can get a little run of good results together, we can begin to push back up towards the top six but what we can’t do is look too far in front.

“We’ve got to concentrate on the Tiverton game and trying to put in another positive performance, with another clean sheet if we can.

“We’ve been on the road for a few weeks now so it will be nice to get back to the Webb’s Wood and show the fans there what we can do.”

Kyle Lapham made his return from injury as a substitute in Tuesday’s triumph at Bishops Cleeve whilst Marine also welcome back central defender Ross Adams for this weekend’s clash with Tiverton. Bradley Gray remains a long-term absentee, but Webb otherwise has a full squad.
