HIGHWORTH Town manager John Fisher says that the Elms is a happy place to be at the moment.

The Worthians fine run this term in Hellenic League Premier Division continued on Saturday with a 4-1 success over Thatcham Town.

And the win has kept Fisher’s men in fifth place, however, the manager said that his side were disappointed that they were unable to keep a clean sheet.

“The club itself is a happy place at the moment,” Fisher said. “Everything is rosy – but all that could change we know that.

“The result and performance on Saturday was superb, but what was pleasing for me was the winning mentality – the desire to keep a clean sheet.

“Gary (Stevens) the goalkeeper has helped instil that. I have never met a goalkeeper who hates conceding as much as he does.

“You would think at being 4-0 up with a couple of minutes to go everyone would be happy, but no, when Thatcham scored the boys were distraught, you would have thought that we had lost.

“As a manager that is great to see.”

Sam Wadieh opened the scoring for the Worthians, before Ryan King added a second.

Skipper and hot-shot striker TJ Bohane put the game to bed when he made it 3-0 before Callum Parsons completed the scoring for Highworth.

“It is great that the goals are spread around – it takes the pressure off TJ,” Fisher said.

“After we went 3-0 up Thatcham started to target him, so I had to take him off to protect him.

“He is one of the top two strikers in the league and you have to expect that at times.”

Fisher also said that he feels that the players are starting to believe that this could be their year.

“There are five teams in the division I think can win it – we are one of them,” he said. “And I think that the players are starting to believe that too.”
