DAVE Webb has called on Swindon Supermarine to build on their biggest win of the season and start climbing the table ahead of tonight’s trip to Cinderford Town.

Marine were emphatic 4-0 winners at second-from-bottom Bashley on Saturday, ending a run of five league matches without a victory.

They came through that clash with a clean bill of health and will travel with the same 14-man squad to take on fellow mid-table side Cinderford.

Marine have regularly been in contention for a play-off spot in recent seasons and Webb still wants to mount another challenge this term.

“After a great performance on Saturday, there are lots of positives for us to build on,” said Webb.

“Cinderford will be a much tougher test than what we had on Saturday but these are the types of game we have to try to win if we want to start pushing up the table towards where we want to be.

“There are no easy games in this league but the thing for us is to look to improve again. Can we put a run of form together?

“If confidence was low before the Bashley game, it certainly shouldn’t be afterwards.

“We’ve got good players at the club but have been unlucky with injuries. There were no new ones to worry about on Saturday – that was one of the biggest things for me. Although we don’t have anyone else fit to come back in, we aren’t scratching around thinking ‘who can we play?’

“Another important thing was that the three guys who came off the bench all made an impact. That bodes well for us.”

Marine have already tasted victory at Cinderford’s Causeway Ground this term, romping to a 4-1 success in the Red Insure Cup in October.

Webb, however, reckons both sides will go into the match with a clean slate this evening.

“They are a good side, especially at home,” said Webb. “We went down there in the cup and got a good result, and I’m sure they will be keen to put that right.

“But most teams make changes for the cup so I’m not sure how much you can read into that game.

“For us, it’s just a case of trying to reproduce what we did on Saturday.”
