HIGHWORTH Town manager John Fisher has revealed the secret to his side’s recent success – no training.

The Worthians go into tomorrow’s Hellenic League Premier Division clash with struggling Milton United on the back of defeating leaders Highmoor Ibis and booking a place in the FA Vase quarter-finals.

Given their congested fixture list, veteran boss Fisher said that the players have not trained for several weeks.

“It may sound strange, but look at this week, we played on the Saturday and then the Monday – what is a training session going to do?” Fisher said.

“The boys know what we do, our free-kick routines and given the number of games we have got I don’t see the point.

“Maybe we will have a training session before our Vase game (against Tadcaster Albion) but we haven’t for the other ties so maybe not.”

One thing Fisher is having to do this weekend is rest hotshot striker TJ Bohane.

The Worthians skipper is one booking away from a ban and should he receive a yellow tomorrow then he would miss the Tadcaster game.

“We have spoken to TJ and he understands where we are coming from,” Fisher said. “Maybe we will rest him completely and not put him on the bench, I don’t know.

“But if he is booked on Saturday then he can’t play in the Vase and that is our main focus at the minute.”

Following Saturday’s visit from Milton, Highworth are back in cup action on the Wednesday night when they make the trip to Wessex League Division One outfit Amesbury Town in the semi-final of the Wiltshire Senior Cup.

Meanwhile, Wootton Bassett Town will be looking to bounce back from their 3-1 midweek defeat at Ascot United when they make the journey to Reading Town.

When the two sides met back in November, Paul Braithwaite’s men ran out 4-1 winners.

Purton will be aiming to climb into the top three of Division One West.

Justin Miller’s outfit currently lie in fourth place and a win at Cirencester Town development will see them keep the pressure of the leading pack.
