HIGHWORTH striker TJ Bohane felt his side had been caught by a sucker punch as they slipped to defeat in their FA Vase semi final first leg tie against North Shields at The Elms on Saturday.

Shields grabbed the advantage at the midway point of the tie through Dean Holmes' goal, but Bohane reckons Highworth squandered chances to give themselves the advantage.

Bohane said: “I’m very disappointed. We didn’t play well first half but we went in 0-0.

“There was that little bit of a delay to the start of the second half, but after that we’ve come and I think we did well in the second half.

“We created three or four clear-cut chances which we should have scored.

“We had flow after flow of attacks and I just thought sooner or later one would go in.

“Then they broke up the other end and it was disappointing to concede such a poor goal.

“We’ve won every game in the Vase away, so hopefully we can go there, get a goal and get the win.

“There are a lot of disappointed lads in there because we didn't deserve to lose the game.

“We'll keep it tight next week, hopefully get a goal and then get another one.”

Highworth chairman Rohan Haines added: “We are still in the tie.

“Obviously it would have been nice if it had been a more positive result but we always said if the result was 1-0 then we are in with a chance.

“We’ve been to Windsor, we’ve been to Tunbridge Wells, we’ve been to Tadcaster and we’ve got a result so we are still in with a shout.’’
