THE CHALKBOARD

GRAHAM Fenton likes his side to take an attacking approach to the game, hence the number of goals they have scored this season.

North Shields utilise the differing talents of their wide midfielders. With the pace of Denver Morris used to get to the byline and deliver crosses working in tandem with the desires of Dean Holmes to come inside and look for goal.

If Gareth Bainbridge is fit to play he will be the fulcrum of the Robins attack, he has scored 13 goals in the Vase already.

At the back Michael McKeown and John Parker are a duo presence who will take the physical challenge to the Worthians attack.

A MAN IN FORM - Gareth Bainbridge

NORTH Shields’ striker Gareth Bainbridge has a goalscoring record comparable with the likes of Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, albeit in the Northern League, not one of Europe’s top divisions.

The 28-year-old missed the first leg at the Elms through injury but will be hoping to improve on his record of 95 goals in 72 starts for the Robins.

Bainbridge has good all around ability and is comfortable playing on the shoulder of the last defender or coming short to build play from midfield.

The hot shot has 13 goals alone in the FA Vase this season, including four in one game against Stokesly. Now returned to fitness, he will provide a sterner test for the Worthians central defensive pairing than Dean Walker.

How John Fisher’s side deal with the threat of Bainbridge could well decide who goes to Wembley.

TREATMENT ROOM

NORTH Shields are boosted by the return on their star centre forward Gareth Bainbridge who missed the first leg with a hamstring injury.

His reintroduction could see either Dean Walker or Ben Richardson drop to the bench, with Walker the more likely candidate due to Richardson’s more impressive goal tally.

Joe Elliot, a defender, also missed the fixture at the Elms with a calf injury and comes back into contention for the return leg.

With the return of that pair Robins boss Graham Fenton has almost a full squad to choose from.
