HIGHWORTH Town have been set the target to go the rest of the season without defeat and that is going well as they completed a 5-0 win over Holyport.

Town boss John Fisher might still be struggling to get over their semi-final FA Vase defeat but eight goals and none conceded in their last two games should help ease the pain.

Jon Davoile opened the scoring for the home side before TJ Bohane made it two before the break.

Second half strikes from Nathan Blackford, Dan Drewett and Tom Price put the game to bed, helping to cover the scar of last week’s defeat to North Shields for Fisher.

“The boys have responded great, we beat Thame in the week 3-0 and then yesterday 5-0,” he said.

“We set them a target with eight games left that we wanted to go those games without getting beat.

“You have got to have targets or your season can just peter out into nothing.

“They’ve responded really well and we have just got to move on.

“I felt sorry for Holyport yesterday with three players dropping out, one of them because he wanted to go shopping with his girlfriend. What a load of nonsense.

“We had to beat what was in front of us and we won 5-0 so it was a great result.”

Highworth now face Shrivenham tomorrow and Fisher has admitted that he is expecting to take all three points against their local rivals who sit just a place above of the foot of the table.

“Tomorrow we have got Shrivenham and we all know where they are in the league and I am expecting to go there and I am expecting to win,” added Fisher.

“I think everybody is because we are on a high and they are not.

“Everybody wants to be involved because we have got the Wilts Senior Cup coming up as well, we have still got a lots to play for and all due respect to them but they have nothing to play for.

“All they have to play for is pride and if we don’t win I won’t be a happy man.”
