MALMESBURY Victoria manager Wayne Kibble says that the club are doing all they can to take them to the next level.

The Flying Monk Ground outfit are currently battling hard to secure the Wiltshire League title just one season after resigning from the Hellenic League due to financial difficulties.

Malmesbury are just six points off the summit with four games in hand on leaders Melksham Town reserves following a 2-1 success over third-place Trowbridge Wanderers.

Should the Vics go on to secure the crown, Kibble says that the club are exploring a return to the Hellenic League or possible promotion to the Toolstation Western League.

“The lads want to go up - they want to play at the highest they can,” Kibble said.

“As a club we are looking at all the finances to ensure that we can try and make that happen.

“We have got all the same events going on this year that helped get us out of the mire last season so we are looking at ways to try and make sure that we can afford it.

“But first of all we must keep going how we have been going in the league.”

On Saturday against the Wanderers, experienced hitman Alan Griffin fired the Vics into the lead from the penalty spot after Ed Wilkins was felled.

Wanderers pulled a goal back and Malmesbury needed an 86th minute winner from Wilkins, after a fine team build up that saw Will Picter deliver the final touch, to keep their title charge on track.

“It was a very strong team performance,” Kibble added.

“Trowbridge are a tough side, but since November the boys have been fantastic and they are starting to believe.”

Ludgershall Sports maintained their own title challenge with a 3-1 success over Corsham Town reserves, while Sarum Youth defeated Southbrook 3-1.

In the Corsham Print KO Cup, FC Chippenham Youth progressed to the semi-final after they were handed an away-walkover win against Supermarine Sports, while Melksham reserves joined them in the last four following their 8-0 thumping of Vale of Pewsey.
