SWINDON Supermarine J edged out Chippenham Town in a tight affair at Stanley Park and in doing so, condemned the home side to relegation from Under 11 Division One.

The South Marston side were to create the first chance of a first half with limited opportunities when Harry Johnson headed over from eight yards out from a corner.

The visitors soon found themselves in the lead when Rhys Ward latched on to a through ball from Joah Hall to home in on goal and finish beyond the out-rushing keeper before Chippenham levelled with a fine header from a corner, only for a miscued shot from Zachary Evans to restore the Marine lead.

After the interval, Harley-Shaun Platt, who had been moved into midfield from defence, made it 3-1 for the hosts with his first of the season when he pounced on a loose ball in the area before Ward bagged his second with a curling effort.

Chippenham battled back to 4-3 but Marine held on for victory.
