SWINDON Supermarine boss Dave Webb is expecting a reaction from his players after they underperformed in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at home to Bishops Cleeve.

Having won their opening two games in impressive style, Supermarine were brought back down to earth with a bump as they were out-battled by a dogged Bishops Cleeve side.

Supermarine now travel to Evesham this evening, who recorded their first win of the season away to Bashley after finishing second in the league last season.

“We’ve got to go to Evesham and get a positive result,” said Webb, whose side then travel to Larkhall on Saturday.

“It is hard for Evesham, they have not had the best of starts, but there is an expectation there.

“When you finish second, and the season before they were 14th, or something like that, there is an expectation now for Evesham to be favourites for promotion.

“It puts an added pressure on players.

“That is another problem here.

“A lot of people have been talking about our players, how good we are and how we are going to have a really good season, but we have let ourselves down.

“They need to show a reaction.

“There are no easy games and the next two games are going to be very tough.

“We need to show what we are about in the next two games, because if we play like we did on Saturday we will get nothing.”

Meanwhile, Southern League Premier Division leaders Chippenham Town face a difficult trip to Poole Town tonight.

“We’ll go there in good spirits,” said manager Mark Collier.

“We may be top of the league but we will go there as underdogs.

“They’ll expect to be in the top three come the end of the season and we are striving for that.”

Highworth Town’s game with Thame United tonight has been postponed, with Thame facing an FA Cup replay with Farnham Town.
