DAVE Webb wants to see Swindon Supermarine focus all of their energies on this weekend’s clash with AFC Totton to keep their Division One South & West play-off hopes on track.

Webb’s men are fresh from dispatching Premier Division side Paulton Rovers in the first qualifying round of the FA Trophy and are gearing up to host Chesham United on Saturday, November 14.

But the Marine manager is keen to see his team keep their house in order and kickstart a run of positive league form when they welcome Totton, who won 5-1 at Burnham last weekend, to the Webb’s Wood Stadium on Saturday.

“We played some superb football against Paulton. People may look at them and say they were bottom of their league but they’ve still earned the right to be in the Premier Division,” said Webb.

“It was a very good performance and we’re looking forward to taking on Chesham in the next round but all of our attention has to be on Totton this weekend.

“We had a good result there in the FA Cup (a 2-0 win) last season but the trip there in the league was a very bad day for us – we lost 6-1.

“If you look at their results, they’ve scored 24 goals in 14 league games this year and they won 5-1 away from home last weekend, so they’ll come to us full of confidence.

“We have to give them ultimate respect but at the same time, we’re looking for some consistency.

“We lost our last league game (2-0 at Cinderford Town) and bounced back in the FA Trophy but the aim now is for us to go on a run.

“The players are full of confidence at the moment and we just need to take that energy and enthusiasm into the Totton game.”

Marine are currently sixth in the table but with Tiverton Town, Shortwood United and Winchester City all locked on 27 points, Webb’s men could jump up to third if results go their way this weekend.

The Marine chief added: “We’ve fallen down to sixth in the league, so it’s vitally important that we get three points this weekend.

“A win is very important to make sure that we stay within that top six.”

Midfielder Chris Taylor misses Saturday’s game at the Webb’s Wood, whilst defender Ash Taylor is also away on holiday, but Bradley Gray and Joe Shepherd should both be fit to feature.
