Fresh from their Swindon Cup success, they entertained Cheltenham Town Ladies at Meadowcroft.

The weather played a huge part in the game and amongst wet and blustery conditions, it was the Gloucestershire side that used the elements to their advantage taking a 3-1 lead into half-time.

Town came out fighting in the second half, showing great determination and character, and took a 5-3 lead with a brace apiece from Sophie Mitchell and Florence Ashton while Lois Beer was also on strike.

Cheltenham then fought back to make it 5-4 before Shannon King sealed the game with two late goals to make it 7-4 to the Wiltshire side.

Team manager Jon Holloway said: “It was great to see such determination from the girls in terrible conditions.

“I was impressed with both teams' attitude throughout the game but felt that we were well worth the victory.”

Next up for the girls will be a testing game against Yeovil Town Ladies.
