SHRIVENHAM boss Michael McNally will be wishing that this season will never end after his side extended their unbeaten run to 10 games with a 2-1 win over New College Swindon.

However, the Barrington Park side did not have it all their own way as they had to come from a goal down in the second half to secure the win against their local rivals.

Jamie Prictor restored parity for the hosts in the second period before Kias Bonner-Shea wrapped up the three points with a well-taken goal.

“It was probably a fair three points,” said McNally.

“We made hard work of it but we dug in and did well.

“In the first half we had a few half-decent chances and they didn’t really create a lot.

“We sort of pulled our finger out a bit in the second half but to be fair to them they have scored a very good goal to give them the lead.

“You’re left thinking if it is going to be one of those days because I think we had hit the crossbar about three times by then.

“After their goal, with a good move from Joe Grant down the left hand side and Jamie Prictor knocked it in.

“In quick succession Kias Bonner-Shea put us a goal ahead and then we could have wrapped it up with three or four goals.”

The run has seen Shrivvy, who spent the first half of the season propping up the Division One West table, climb to eighth spot in the league and McNally is not content with that as he aims higher with two games remaining.

“If the season started in December then we would be alright, we would probably be up the top of the league,” he added.

“The boys are enjoying it and working hard for each other and long may it continue.

“We go to Shortwood now on Thursday and then finish at home to Clanfield. If we can win those games then maybe we can claim sixth spot.

“I can’t speak highly enough of the lads. They have all stuck by what I have said to them and worked their socks off and are now getting their just rewards.

“I started from scratch at the beginning of the season and had quite a few young lads in. I added a bit of experience just before December and that has probably helped us out.

“I think they are all going to stay next year and with anything you must improve it, so hopefully if I can bring in three or four players that are either a bit better or the same standard then hopefully we will have a decent squad and will be pushing at the top end of the table.”
