TROWBRIDGE Town manager Kieran Baggs hopes that his Bees will stay buzzing as they bid to come out on top in the Wiltshire League Senior Division run-in.
On April 2, Trowbridge felt the sting as they finally suffered their first league defeat of the season – a 3-1 loss to Devizes Town Reserves – but they produced the perfect response on Saturday with a thumping 9-1 triumph at Wilts Calne Town.
Ryan Nicholls, Billy Robinson and Leon Greenland snaffled braces whilst Jamie Jordan, Dan Jordan and Jack Hiscocks all also got in on the act as Baggs’ men got back to winning ways and their boss is imploring his title-chasers to keep the pedal to the metal.
“When we played Devizes, we had a lot of suspensions and their first team didn’t have a game in the Western League that day, so a few of those players played,” said the Trowbridge manager.
“We’d not been great for three or four weeks before that and we needed a response.
“I said to the players that we have to go on another run and now we’ve had a big win, we need to keep our foot on the gas because there are plenty of games to go.”
Elsewhere, Malmesbury Victoria ran out 3-0 winners at Wroughton whilst Chippenham Park Development were unable to put the brakes on high-flying Shrewton United as they were beaten 3-0 on the road.
The spoils were shared as Melksham Town Reserves were held to a 2-2 draw at Royal Wootton Bassett Town Reserves and there was disappointment for Trowbridge Wanderers as they were thumped 4-1 at Ludgershall Sports.
Devizes Town Reserves romped to a 4-0 win over Vale of Pewsey.
