SWINDON Town Ladies tackle a crucial hurdle in their FA Women’s Premier League South West Division One title quest tomorrow – a trip to joint-leaders Larkhall Athletic.

Steve Robertson’s Town are one of three teams currently locked on 35 points at the top of the table along with Chichester City and Larkhall, who they visit on Sunday, looking to take a major step towards finishing top of the pile in May.

At present, Town find themselves second but they have a game in hand on leaders Chichester and have played two less than tomorrow’s Bath-based opponents Larkhall, who they have beaten three times already this term.

Swindon thumped Larkhall 5-0 in the FA Women’s Premier League Cup in October and ran out 3-2 winners at Plain Ham in the Women’s FA Cup in November before also taking the spoils when the two teams met at Barrington Park in the league in February.

Give the two sides’ familiarity, Town manager Robertson isn’t expecting many surprises when his charges renew hostilities with their title rivals this weekend.

He said: “(This is) another challenging game against a team plying for top spot.

“We have played each other three times already this season, so we know what to expect from them.

“We are now into the final run-in of the season, so we have got to keep and maintain the standard that we have set ourselves.”

Town, who are also in action next Tuesday when they travel to Cheltenham Town (kick-off 7.45pm), go to Larkhall with a full squad to select from.
