CROFT Junior Red got off to a perfect start in their North Wilts Youth League U15 Division One clash with FC Chippenham, a sweetly-struck shot from Noah Howell giving them the lead.

Callum Marson scored a second, but Chippenham came out the blocks stronger at the start of the second half and only smart saves from William Hickey and the woodwork prevented them from reducing the deficit before Croft wrapped up a 4-2 success, Zac Soonsup-Bell with two goals.

Lydiard Youth put on a classy display to see off bottom-placed Chiseldon in U13 Division Three with a 9-1 success.

Reece Bates scored the only goal of the first period and second-half strikes from Jon Raggett, Joseph Atcherley, Josh Townsend, a brace from player of the match Ricky Rossi and a hat-trick from Will Steckerl sealed it.

SWINDON Spitfires United enjoyed an 8-3 victory over second-placed Melksham Town in the Wiltshire Women's League's Open Age Division.

Melksham opened the scoring, but captain Claire Moreton’s hat-trick helped Spitfires reply with five goals before half time. Moreton added another after the break and then Mel Bristow netted twice and Carla Compton and Diane George were also on target.
