SWINDON Supermarine have been handed a tough draw in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup after being paired with Conference South side Welling United.

Dave Webb's side, who ousted Farnborough 1-0 in their second round qualifying tie on Saturday, will travel to the National League South strugglers on Saturday, October 1, with £7,500 of prize money up for grabs.

Webb admitted: "You want a home draw, that is the first thing you want or a team of an equivalent level, but we will still look forward to it,” he said.

“Anything can happen, we will have to go and try to enjoy the day, we’ll go with a game plan and try to cause an upset.

“They’re a big football club, we’ve earned the right to go there and try and win, which is what we will try to do.

“We’ll play our normal game and try to knock them out. It’s not ideal, it’s a shame we aren’t at home, but let’s enjoy it and give it our best shot.”

Welling are currently fourth bottom of National League South, having won just two of their opening 11 games.

Chippenham Town, who thumped National League South opponents Poole Town 4-1 in Saturday's second round qualifying, must also hit the road at the next stage.

Mark Collier's men will travel to face Billericay Town, who are currently mid-table in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

The carrot for all third round qualifying winners is the arrival of the National League Premier sides in fourth round qualifying, just one match shy of the first round proper.
