TAWNY Owl regained their spot at the top of the Swindon & District League Premier Division with a thumping 10-0 win over North Swindon this weekend.

The win maintains their perfect start to the season and leaves them a point above second-placed Swindon Spitfires.

Ajay Sahota’s side were 2-0 up by the end of the first half before notching a further eight in the second period.

Kenny Hawkins led the scoring with four goals, while Jack Allan claimed a hat-trick as Lewis Waldon added two and Ryan Fry got one.

“It was a pleasing in the end against a side that we were much better than. I don’t want to disrespect them (North Swindon) but we had the majority of the ball,” said the Tawny Owl boss.

“We had so many chances and by half-time it was a little bit disappointing it was only 2-0 because at that point, we thought we might only win by five or six.

“In the end, it was pleasing we got a scoreline which showed our dominance but it should have been a lot more.

“Kenny (Hawkins) deserves a special mention for his four goals. He’s been playing for us for about four years now and he consistently gets you goals, especially when you consider he's an attacking midfielder."

Swindon Centurians were also in action this weekend as they recorded their second win of the season with a 3-0 victory over Spectrum.

Elsewhere, in Division One, Chiseldon were unlucky not to claim all three points as they were edged by New Town All Stars.

It started brightly for the hosts as Stewart Parsons and Frankie Hunt both scored their first goals for the club, as well as a double from Luke Mitchell, but it wasn’t enough as New Town All Stars were 5-4 winners.

Adam Crawford’s double plus goals from Matthew Kennedy and Tom Passingham meant Lyneham claimed a 4-2 win over Marlborough Reserves.

The result means Lyneham are now up to sixth, while Marlborough Reserves dwell in 10th place with four points from their opening five games.

Stratton Juniors played out a 3-3 draw at home to Core Construction, which was enough to leave them at the top of the table for at least another week as the latter occupy 11th.

Meanwhile, Swindon Spitfires needed penalties to get through their first-round Wiltshire Junior Cup tie after drawing 4-4 with Porton Sports, eventually winning 4-3 on spot-kicks.

Bassett Bulldogs had no such issues as they were 4-1 winners over Haydon Wick but Swindon AFC had a nightmare of a weekend as they lost 19-0 to South Newton & Wishford.

Ramsbury claimed a 5-1 home win against Nomansland & Landford FC while FC Dorcan suffered a 3-2 defeat at Trowbridge League side Three Daggers.
