MELKSHAM Town Reserves may have recorded a 4-2 success at the Royal Wootton Bassett Town counterparts, but manager Steve Burns cut a frustrated figure come the final whistle.

After finding themselves a goal down early on the Gerard Buxton Sport Ground, the Conigre side hit back to go in at the break leading 3-1 before netting their fourth shortly after the break.

While Burns, who has used 32 players already this term, was pleased to have Callum Demkiv, Rob Manning, Lee Rogers and Jake Sainsbury on target, he wanted his team to press home there advantage even more.

“We went 1-0 quite early on but then we played really well and went in at half-time 3-1 up and it could have been more,” Burns said.

“Once we got our fourth we stopped playing a little bit and they managed to get another goal back with a penalty.

“I don’t like it when we do that. We have not put together a full 90 minutes yet and that is frustrating.

“Because we support the first team (who play in the Toolstation League Premier Division) we don’t know what team we will have for the weekend.

“We have got Shrewton and they beat us 6-3 earlier in the season, but we go there with confidence.”

Wroughton moved within two points of leaders Shrewton United as they defeated third-place Cricklade Town, who slipped to their fourth loss of the campaign.

Mark Love’s men currently sit in fourth place and have a game in hand on the table-toppers.

Tatenda Majoni and Louis Wollen were on target for Beversbrook in their 2-1 win over Corsham Town Reserves, while Marlborough Town are level on points with Shrewton following their 3-1 success over Wilts Calne Town last Thursday.
