DESPITE admitting that his team should be somewhat disappointed at not claiming all three points, Swindon Supermarine manager Dave Webb was pleased to see them show steel on the road at Paulton Rovers.

Marine, who got back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory at AFC Totton in midweek, were forced to settle for a share of the spoils in Somerset on Saturday following a goalless stalemate.

Rovers goalkeeper Jon Harvey proved a thorn in the side of Webb’s troops as he made a string of impressive saves to ensure his net remained unbreached but the Webbswood Stadium boss was nonetheless pleased with the solidarity shown by his side.

“It’s a good point away on the road. We’ve asked the players to be more resilient and I’m pleased that they’ve managed to do that,” said the Marine chief.

“We’ve competed well and at the end of the day, we can probably be a little disappointed that it’s ended 0-0 because we’ve come up against a keeper that was inspired on the day.

“He’s made some great saves to keep us out and meant that we haven’t been able to get a winner but at least we’ve got a point out of it.

“Zak Westlake wasn’t feeling too great because he took a nasty knock to his ankle in the week, so Ash Taylor captained the side in his place and did very well.

“We’ve got a long trip to Barnstaple on Tuesday now and hopefully, we can show the same sort of resilience.”

Webb’s side remain sixth in the table following their draw with Paulton and former Forest Green Rovers academy defender Macauley Dodson made his second appearance for the club.

The youngster, who had been featuring for Highworth Town in the Hellenic League, has had his Southern League registration transferred to Marine from Chippenham Town.

“We’ve been playing with a little bit of a different shape recently and Macauley played at the right side of defence, and has done well,” said Webb.

“He signed for Chippenham at the start of the season and wasn’t really getting much of a look-in there, so he’s been playing for Highworth.

“He’s a good young player and he’s done well for us.”
