DAVE Webb expressed his satisfaction with a point gained as his Swindon Supermarine side shared the EVo-Stik League Southern Division One South & West spoils at Mangotsfield United.

The clash, which saw fourth and fifth go head to head, ended 1-1 with Webb’s side having an early chance to seize the advantage when George Reid stung the hands of the home keeper in the second minute.

However 14 minutes it was the hosts who took the lead through Lewis Powell, after he was found with a lofted ball to the back post, before applying the finish.

Powell went close again, but his effort was matched by Connor Johns in the Supermarine goal.

The game than began to slow with half-time approaching as Supermarine continued to look for a way back into the contest.

Despite going into the break a goal behind, the visitors were handed a huge lift just after the interval when the hosts had Matt Coupe sent off for a second yellow card.

Supermarine rode the crest of that wave as Callum Parsons equalised in the 48th minute, netting his fifth goal in three matches.

Parsons' free-kick was curled into the top left corner from 25 yards as Marine got back on terms.

Webb expressed his pride in what his side have achieved so far this season and added: “When you go to a team who are above you and come away with something you are happy.

“They (Mangotsfield) are in the top five and they are there on merit. They have some good players and some experienced players.

“We felt if we could pick the right pass we would get have an opportunity and that was what happened in the second half with the sending off.

“Callum (Parsons) scored from the free-kick. I’m sure they’re more than happy with a point and we have to take that.

“For me, we are now at Christmas, we are in the top five and I think that’s a great achievement from the players.”
