PURTON'S push up the Hellenic League Division One West table stalled further on Saturday as they were held to a draw by struggling Cheltenham Saracens.

After going eight matches without defeat up to the start of December, Justin Miller's men have failed to win either of their last two matches - and were forced to come from behind against a side that has shipped 114 league goals in just 18 matches so far this term.

Saracens were swamped 17-0 at home by title-chasing Fairford last time out, but held sway at one stage at the Red House, with goals from Jamie Martin and Jack Holdham.

Purton though did at least earn a point while dropping to sixth place in the table, Matt Bennett and Nouman Farouq Bhatti on target for the home side.

Shrivenham threw away a promising position in their Division One West clash at Cirencester Town Development before slipping to only their second league defeat on the road this season.

Michael McNally's men looked on course to upset the hosts, who are currently third in the table, when Jamie Prictor netted twice in the first half.

Ciren though turned the game on its head as strikes from Danny Gudger, Sam Farr and Sam Walsh handed them the three points.

New College Swindon dropped into the bottom two after losing at home by the odd goal in three to North Leigh.

Tom Johnston opened the scoring for the home side before second-half goals from Ben Curtis and Daryal Harris secured the points for the visitors.

Fairford Town remained in second spot second despite their home game with Milton United having to be rescheduled as the visitors could not field a team.
