SWINDON Supermarine manager Dave Webb believes his team need to win seven of their last 10 games if they are to mount a serious top five challenge.

Webb thinks the first of those wins will need to be this Saturday when they travel to Winchester City.

The Marine manager has also challenged his squad to amass a total of 76 points by the end of the season as they bid for a play-off berth.

So far, his side have totalled 55 in this campaign, placing them seventh, eight points behind fifth-placed Evesham United.

“I think I know how many points we will need to try and have a chance of getting into the top five, we need a lot of wins in our remaining games,” said Webb.

“The players are capable of it. They’re a good bunch and have worked hard all season, I just want them to fulfil what I believe they can fulfil.

“If they continue to work at it, listen to what we are telling them to do and show all of their natural ability, we have a chance.

“I don’t want this season to just peter out into an eighth, ninth or 10th position, I still have my eye on getting into fifth spot.

“While it is mathematically possible, we are going to keep trying to get there. The top five are there on merit. They have the resources and they are all set up ready to go for promotion.”

Supermarine were also involved in midweek action as they took on Calne Town in the Wiltshire Senior Cup semi-final.

Connor Waldon netted twice, while Callum and Josh Parsons also notched to hand the Webbswood Stadium men a 4-0 win.

Following that victory over Calne, Webb now wants his players to step up a gear as they prepare for a trip to Hampshire.

“I’m looking at my players now to see how they compete in the top games and Winchester are a good side, they have already beaten us once,” added Webb.

“We need to get a lot of wins, but if the other sides have a dip in form we might be able to sneak it. We still have the teams around us to play and that starts on Saturday.

“I’m keen to avenge the defeat from earlier in the season and go there and get a win.”
