DPR were able to wrap up a league and cup double on Sunday as they secured a comfortable 4-1 win over Woodlands Edge to claim the Swindon Sunday League Chairman Trophy.

Any nerves were settled early on for the Division Two champions when Lewis Chatwin played in Rob Lincoln, who took his chance well.

Chatwin then tried his luck from the edge of the area, which struck the upright but he was on hand to convert the rebound and give DPR a 2-0 lead at the break.

Danny Horwood scored just past the hour mark from the edge of the area and despite Woodlands pulling a goal back, Tom McCullogh’s fine solo effort wrapped up the trophy.

“We struggled a little bit at the start of the season with commitment from the boys and we all got together and had a good chat and decided to rally together and see it through to the end of the season,” said manager Liam Lewis.

“We knew we had a strong enough team to compete and we did show that. Towards the back end of the season, the boys have been fantastic, the commitment has been there and I think the results have shown that.

“We’ve got the double now and we were chuffed. We had a good celebration yesterday to mark the achievement.

“We came up against a strong Woodlands Edge team, we’ve played them lots in the last few years and knew what to expect from them and they probably knew what to expect from us as well.

“We knew if we got the ball on the deck and played football like we know we can, we were the better team.

“The boys were well up for it and I couldn’t fault anyone.”

With the prospect of going up in to Division One next season, Lewis admits it is a decision that the team will have to make in the coming weeks, but is already planning for an assault on the top tier.

“It’s been a really good year in the end but we need to regroup and have a chat about what we are doing next year,” he added.

“We know Division One is a competitive league and we know that if we keep the core of our team, we can hold our own up there.

“I know I need to strengthen so I will be looking to add a few experienced lads and I have my eye on a couple.

“We will only go forward now if we know we can be competitive in Division One.”

Greyhound secured their third Division One title on the bounce with a 5-4 victory over closest rivals AFC Gas, but the game was marred by Greyhound’s Sam Collier leaving the pitch with a broken arm.

Division Three champions AFC Cricklade extended their advantage at the top to five points, with one game remaining, following a 5-1 win away to Crown FC, while Division Four winners Coleshill Youth were held to a 3-3 draw by Smart Movers.

In Division Five, Northern Lights were shock 5-0 victors over Save On Tyres Athletic.
