Royal Wootton Bassett Town kicked off their Hellenic League Premier Division campaign with a 2-2 draw at Brackley Town Saints tonight.

The hosts opened the scoring just before the half hour mark when Josh Bowden capitalised on a mistake in the Bassett defence.

Rich Hunter’s men found themselves 2-0 shortly after when Josh Murphy drilled the ball home from 25 yards.

The Gerard Buxton Sports Ground side quickly pulled a goal back when Callum Wright fires the ball into the net from 30 yards when a corner is only half cleared.

Bassett went into the break level when Wright plays the ball into the path of former Highworth Town man Nathan Gambling, who tucked the ball away with a net finish.

Despite the eventful opening 45 minutes, neither side could managed to find a winner in the second half with both teams settling for a point.
