SWINDON Town Ladies get the new FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division season under way on Sunday when they host Coventry United Ladies (2pm).

The game against the Sky Blues marks the beginning of a new era for Town, with Leonie Wade having taken over as manager from Steve Robertson over the summer.

A host of new players have also arrived in the off-season, while the team will also be playing at a new ground this season having moved to Fairford Town’s Cinder Lane venue.

Town endured a tricky campaign last term, winning just two of 20 fixtures in their maiden season in the Southern Division as they finished second from bottom in the table.

A tough first assignment awaits Wade’s troops first up as they take on a Coventry side who finished as runners-up behind Tottenham Hotspur in 2017-18.

However, both fixtures between the two sides proved to be close affairs last season, with United edging to a 2-1 win at home before taking a 3-1 win on their trip south.
