ROYAL Wootton Bassett stretched their winning run in the Hellenic League Premier Division to five matches after claiming a 2-0 win at Tuffley Rovers this evening.

Rich Hunter’s men, who went into the match at Glevum Park on the back of a 3-0 success at Highmoor Ibis on Saturday, took a seventh minute lead when player-coach Sam Collier rose to head home Gio Wrona’s corner.

The hosts had a number of chances throughout the first half with England schoolboy international stopper Dan Lawrence keeping them at bay.

Having weathered the Tuffley storm to get into the break 1-0 up, Bassett doubled their lead in the 75th minute when Collier picked himself off the floor to drill home the resulting spot kick.

Hunter’s men again had to stand firm as the hosts looked for a way back into the match, but Bassett returned home with all three points in the bag.
