Where In The World
ADVER reader Chris Shepherd sent in this photo of himself at the museum of the Terracota Soldiers in Xian, China. Chris, who works as an electronics engineer, was on business in China and gets out to the Far East every few years to do customer visits. "On this occasion we spent three weeks touring in Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and South Korea," he writes. "I managed to arrange the trip so we spent one weekend in Xian so I was able to visit the soilders. "The first time I went to China was in 1994. Then they had just combined their then two currencies (one for Chinese and one for foreigners), removed restrictions on travelling to most places and no longer required you to be escorted everyehere. In the last 15 years the changes there have been enormous. It is a truly stunning country." Chris has been living in Swindon for the last nine years having moved here to work for Plessey (aka Zarlink) in Cheney Manor, although he is now working for a different company in Theale just outside Reading.
