IT'S time to salute Corporal Cheryl Kelser who is pictured reading her copy of the Swindon Advertiser in Afghanistan. Cheryl, who is a reservist with the Royal Air Force's 4626 Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron based at RAF Lyneham was recently serving in the war-torn country in support of Operation Hendrick. "I am employed on the Squadron as a Flight Nurse," writes Cheryl. "In this role, we are responsible for the care of patients who require transfer by air both within Afghanistan and when escorting the sick and injured military personnel back home. "This was my first experience of being deployed to a conflict zone, but with training from the Squadron I was able to meet the challenges ahead of me. "I feel honoured and extremely proud that I am part of the Squadron which enables us to evacuate the sick and injured who are working so hard out in such a hostile environment." Cheryl, who lives in Swindon, had copies of the Adver sent to her every week by daughter Hayley. She is pictured in Kandahar with Three Mile Mountain n the background and next to a British field ambulance. Now back in Swindon, Cheryl has returned to work as a staff nurse at the Great Western Hospital. "Civilian life is a very different environment," she adds.
