Where In The World
SO you think we had plenty of snow. Here's Swindon's Kate Pitt surrounded by snow in Urumqi in north-west China where she is teaching English at a secondary school during her gap year. The photo was passed on by her mum, Caroline. "The snow has been there since October," writes Caroline. "It may not look like much, but those two feet of snow haven't melted in over three moths. The students at the school have to gather together under the trees during their breaks. It doesn't get much sun, but the snow is beginning to melt a little." Kim hails from Old Town and is a former pupil at Lethbridge and Commonweal schools, as well as New College. "When she returns from China, Kim plans to go to university in Newcastle to study art, she is particularly interested in Chinese calligraphy." A pair of cinema tickets will be winging their way to the Pitt family courtesy of Cineworld in Shaw Ridge.
