AMRITSAR is widely regarded at the spiritual centre of the Sikhs, the gateway to the Punjab and home to the Golden Temple. Swindon’s Karamjit Singh Grewal recently returned from India and sent us this photograph of himself at the Golden Temple. “It is a very historic site,” said Karamjit. “I had a great time visiting a lot of other famous landmarks across the country” The Golden Temple was founded by the fourth Guru of Sikhs, Guru Ramdas and completed in 1604 by his successor Guru Arjan Dev. The temple is surrounded by a large man-made lake, known as the AmritSar (Lake of Holy Water or Immortal Nectar). There are entrances to the temple on all four sides
