THOUSANDS more women are invited to make a difference in the field of cancer research at this year's Race For Life events in Swindon.
The weekend of Saturday and Sunday, June 14 and 15 will see up to 7,000 women pounding the paths of Lydiard Park in aid of Cancer Research UK. There are remaining places still up for grabs.
There are no prizes for first place as every woman who takes part and raises money is a winner. But it is healthier and safer to do some training before the event, whether you choose to run or walk.
Natasha Russell, Cancer Research UK's Swindon event manager, said: "Some women might assume Race for Life is about running, but it's all about women coming together to raise money to beat cancer.
"The vast majority of participants choose to walk - often chatting with friends for the hour or so it takes to stroll round the 5k course.
"There are lots of easy ways to get ready for your event such as walking the kids to school in the morning or getting off the bus a couple of stops early on the way home.
"Regular exercise is one of the ways to reduce the risk of cancer so why not enter the Race for Life today."
To help women take that first step to get ready for the Swindon Race for Life, Cancer Research UK have lots of tips and advice on their website www.raceforlife.org.
To enter Race for Life visit www.raceforlife.org/southwest or call the hotline on 0871 641 2279.
