THE ethos at Longleaze Primary School is to place the child at the centre of everything.

The school, in Royal Wootton Bassett, aims to be caring of the child, of each other, and of the wider community, including parents and carers.

The school’s mission statement is ‘Learning for Life’.

All those involved with Longleaze aim to provide every child with opportunities to acquire the skills to enable them to learn the things they need for a lifetime.

They are encouraged to be creative, enthusiastic and risk taking in their learning.

The values of the school are represented by the Learning Powers that are awarded to children when they are seen to be demonstrating them, including Sapphire for keeping focus, Topaz for collaboration, Amethyst for Co-operation and Emerald for being courageous.

Headteacher Clare Pickard said: “Longleaze Primary School prides itself on creating a happy stimulating environment where children are at the heart of what we do.

“Children learn to care for each other and the community of which they are a part.

“They learn to challenge their thinking and learn through a creative approach.

“All children are encouraged to do their best and enter into the spirit of a ‘can do’ culture.

“Our school values all children and ensures that through challenge, support and fun children always achieve their best.

“That couples with an ethos where staff and children work together to ensure we all feel safe, happy and cared for all make for an amazing school.”

Longleaze has a school council made up of elected representatives from each class to allow the children to be a part of the growth and development of the school.
