EASTROP Infant School in High-worth provides a caring, broad and balanced curriculum for children from Reception to Year 2.

After this, the children progress to Southfield Junior School and subsequently to The Warneford School.

Close links are maintained between staff and pupils of both Eastrop and Southfield to ensure that the older children progress easily when the time comes.

Staff provide a happy atmosphere in which the children flourish.

They also put in lots of effort to facilitate special theme weeks throughout the year, not to mention the plays and concerts which provide lots of motivation for the children and entertainment for their parents.

The Board of Governors works hard to ensure that the best use is made of the resources and makes a valuable contribution to the success of the school.

The school also has a very active fundraising team which allows them to provide extras such as theatre workshops and a high standard of equipment throughout the school.

Headteacher Sue Marshall leads a team of eight teachers, plus support, supervisory and administrative staff, who all work in partnership with parents and carers who provide support to the school.

In September 2010, the school received a 10-year award from the Basic Skills Agency, the presitigious Basic Skills Qualify Mark, by the Basic Skills Agency.

The most recent Ofsted report said the school ensures that all children feel that they matter.

“This is an inclusive community in which people feel valued, appreciated and helped to develop, clearly every member of the team matters just as every child matters,” said an inspector.

“There is a strong emphasis on continuing professional development, with senior people and especially the headteacher being regarded as role models, and much value is placed on internal and external networking.”
