LEARNING at Millbrook Primary School is seen as a lifelong process so all pupils are given everything they need for their futures.

The staff aim to create an open and creative school where all are valued, supported and challenged.

Everyone receives regular praise and encouragement to be the best they can possibly be.

The learning community is based on honesty, integrity, motivation and responsibility borne out of mutual respect.

Headteacher Karen Pyman said: “The senior leadership team are continuing to drive school improvement in teaching and learning.

“We are determined to achieve excellence and ensure that every child fulfils their potential.

“We are using the International Primary Curriculum throughout the school, which provides an exciting and varied curriculum.

“Assertive mentoring, our system to assess learning, involves children being much more aware of their learning targets and levels of attainment and has proved popular with both children and parents.

“This has had a very positive impact on progress throughout the school.

“The Foundation Stage, which includes Caterpillar Pre-school, continues to give our children a fantastic start to their education.

“During our last inspection we were judged to be preparing pupils adequately for the next stages in their education and were working hard to further improve this.

“The inspection report found that parents and carers were overwhelmingly positive about the school.

“As one parent commented, ‘Much- needed changes have happened and now we are proud to send our children here’.”

The school has a wide variety of ways in which it makes sure every pupil gets the most out of their time.

Everyone is taught to respect each other regardless of background on the belief that if the youngsters feel good about themselves they will achieve more.

The teachers strive to give everyone the opportunity to fulfil their ambitions, dreams and goals and all achievements are recognised.

Children are also taught to be active members of the local community as well as appreciating their place within the global world.
