LEARNING at St Mary's Catholic Primary School is based on a foundation of Christian beliefs aiming to help children develop into well-rounded adults.

With a vibrant curriculum on offer, from art and design to forest school, music and history, children have ample opportunities to develop their learning and childhood experiences.

Headteacher Andrew Henstridge said: "St Mary’s is a vibrant learning community and uses every means possible to motivate and challenge its pupils. Our Forest School encourages learning in the outdoor environment and the experiences of our pupils are enriched through music, art, dance and drama. Educational visits to the theatre or to places connected to the class topic also play a vital part in our curriculum.

"Jesus is the role model for all that we do, say and think within the school so that our lives are a living witness to the Gospel. This is lived out in our daily work at school and through our worship and prayer life.

"Our school is part of the community of love with parish and family.

"Everyone will become confident, enthusiastic learners who take pride in themselves and their achievements.

"Everyone will be challenged to become independent learners with enquiring minds and positive attitudes.

"A happy, safe and healthy environment will be provided where all are nurtured and cared for."

St Mary's has also been highly praised by education watchdog, Ofsted, who awarded the school a good rating and found it had a number of outstanding features at its last inspection in February 2010.

They have also been praised in the Diocesan Section 48 Report, which judged the school to be outstanding in every category as a Catholic school.
