POLICE are once again appealing for members of the public to help them search Savernake Forest for clues relating to the disappearance of Sian O'Callaghan.

Volunteers are needed from 10.30am on Wednesday and are asked to meet at Postern Hill, in Savernake Forest.

Those taking part are requested to sign in and make sure they are briefed by officers before setting out.

Volunteers should only attend if they are fit and well, as the terrain is rough and dense woodland, and should wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

Searchers, who should not take dogs along, are asked to bring a mobile phone with them, some form of identification and refreshments with them. They are also asked to stay in groups.

Finally, volunteers should only look in the areas directed to by police and if they find anything they should not touch it but report the discovery immediately to an officer.

Today more than 300 people turned out to help with the search and Wiltshire Police have extended their thanks to everyone who helped.
