A SEA of flowers and candles filled the street outside Suju nightclub last night as family and friends left tributes to the 22-year-old.

The entrance to the nightspot in Old Town, which was the last place where Sian was seen alive, was filled with flowers, candles and messages of condolences.

One read: ‘Sian RIP. You’ll be fine up in heaven. We’re all thinking of you.’ One of Sian’s close friends, Emma Shewry, 25, of Covingham, led the lighting of the candles.

She said: “I loved her to bits and will never stop thinking about her. She was suppose to be coming to my daughter’s christening the next day. I was ringing her phone thinking she would answer.”

Former school friend, Kayleigh Knox said: “Just to think it happened so close to home is horrible. Everyone was hoping she would be found safe.

“Everyone has really come together for this and shown their support for someone who was very popular.”

Teacher Ruth Farrow said: “Sian left Dorcan in 2004 and I was lucky enough to teach her English in her last year at the school. “She was conscientious, taking her studies seriously, but was also great fun to have around. There was always a smile on her face. “She is remembered by many of Dorcan’s staff because she was, quite simply, a pleasure to teach.

“Her death has cast a shadow over our school, as it has the town and our hearts go out to her family and friends. “We offer them our deepest condolences at this difficult time; she was a special girl and will be sorely missed.”

At a Swindon Council meeting last night, a two-minute silence was held.

Council leader Rod Bluh (Con, Dorcan) said: “It’s a tragedy for Swindon and a tragedy for the community.”
