CHURCHES across Swindon have shown their support to a town rocked by the murder.

St Barnabas Church, in Gorse Hill, and St Augustine Church, in Summers Street, were open to members of the public late last night offering comfort to those affected by the 22-year-old’s death.

Father Mark Paris, who held a candlelit vigil on Wednesday night which more than 200 people attended, said he was stunned by yesterday’s events.

“To be honest with you, I have only just stopped crying myself,” he said.

“I didn’t know the girl but I have been left distraught by the news I have just heard.

“I have removed my clerical collar and it has shattered my faith and am starting to question my belief.

“At this moment I am trying to get my own head around what has happened before I can help anyone else in the community.

“Obviously people are going to be looking to the church for comfort and answers to what has happened.

“The support that was shown on Wednesday night at the candlelit vigil shows just how popular Sian was and the amount of comments that are going up on Facebook, this has touched a lot of people.”
