IT HAS been announced that Swindon Borough Council is to consider the regeneration of the canal that once flowed through our town.
It is to cost in the region of a couple of million, and the whole reason for me writing this letter is that if the council are considering such a palaver as to regenerate a canal that is not needed.
Why did they turn down Swindon Town Football Club when they applied to move to a more convenient, a more worth while and a more plausible area.
Swindon Borough Council have a lot to answer for.
Why waste money on a canal that we don't need? Spend the money on Coate Water, revamp of the shop, a revamp of the park? Why not spend it on our roads that are falling apart? Why not deal with problem areas?
Why not spend the money on a casino we were once denied? Or why don't we have a Swindon university, not a University of Bath?
I'm only writing this as a protest, because I am sick to death of people running our town down.
A Brookman.
Eldene, Swindon
